Itโs not just a video. Itโs every unforgettable moment from this extraordinary trip, captured in remarkable detail like never before. Thatโs the difference your Nonprofit Travel Club delivers.

Between the trip announcement and August 2027, there will be THREE (3) gatherings with your BIG 5 African Safari ESCORT and exclusively for confirmed guests on the trip.
The first social will be in August 2026 (1 year before departure).
You will learn about aspects of the trip to make it the experience of a lifetime. You will get to meet other guests on the trip, making it “one big family on Safari”.
In 2027, there will be TWO potluck dinners to socialize and interact with all guests and your escort. It will include recommendations and all the updated information as we get closer to “Out To Africa”.
Itโs a special feature designed to turn this incredible safari into more than just a vacation โ it becomes a shared adventure with new friends before you even leave for Africa.

If you want the highest number of big mammal species in a single location, the answer is the region of Kruger National Park in South Africa. While many parks claim the highest “density” (animals per square mile), Kruger holds the crown for biodiversity. It is home to 147 species of mammals, which is more than any other game reserve in world. Kruger’s massive size (a region about the size of Israel) and its variety of ecosystemsโranging from savannah and woodlands to riverine forestsโallow it to support a staggering variety of life. It is one of the few places on Earth where you can reliably see the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino) in a single day. Beyond the famous heavyweights, Kruger is a stronghold for rare species like the African Wild Dog, Cheetah, and Sable Antelope. Because the park has an extensive network of roads and established camps, it is excellent for spotting smaller, nocturnal mammals like civets, genets, and honey badgers. And this special Happening Travel Club allows you to UNPACK ONCE while on safari. Then many days on safari will dramatically increase the wildlife experience for the best safari experience in Africa.
Karongwe, meaning the place of meeting, is where six rivers converge in one of Africaโs most celebrated safari landscapes. Here, at the foot of the Drakensberg mountains, water gathers life, wildlife roams freely, people and stories intertwine, and every moment is alive with meaning. The Karongwe Game Reserve at Kruger is one of the best locations in Africa.
Most of our Travel Club members wish to handle their own air reservations. This is because airlines have so many various offers on choice of flights, seat assignment at time of booking, baggage inclusions, boarding order, layover and connection times and issues related to change fees. Also, if you have any emergency issues before or during your travel our members should be in control of their own tickets and emergency needs. As a result it is counterproductive to have a third party involved in your air ticket. The Travel Club recommends you do not purchase your airline ticket earlier than 120 days prior to departure and that you can use a tracking tool (like google or kayak to follow air flight costs and the absolute best choices for your air.)
ABOUT SHIDULI SAFARI LODGE:
Your Deluxe (4 star) hotel upgrade for Johannesburg and Cape Town will also include the Shiduli Safari Lodge at Kruger National Park. Located within the Karongwe Private Game Reserve, a 22,000-acre protected area at Kruger. Shiduli is famous for its “home-away-from-home” feel and exceptional wildlife tracking. Here is why itโs a standout choice for a 5-day stay:
EXCEPTIONAL WILDLIFE SIGHTINGS: Shiduli isn’t just about seeing the Big Five; itโs about how you see them. Because it’s a private reserve and unlike other parts of Kruger Park, rangers here can drive off-road to follow a leopard into the brush or get you closer to a lion pride. Every drive includes both a ranger (driver) and a Shangaan tracker seated on the front of the vehicle. This duo is incredibly effective at finding elusive cats like leopards and cheetahs. They have a strict policy of only 2โ3 vehicles per sighting, so youโll never feel like you’re in a “traffic jam” around an animal.
DRAMATIC BACKDROPS: Most safari lodges are on flat savannah. Shiduli sits against the dramatic backdrop of the northern Drakensberg Mountains. The visual of an elephant or giraffe silhouetted against these jagged peaks is one of the most iconic views in Africa.
5 DAYS IS THE “SWEET SPOT”: A 3-day safari can feel rushed. A 5-day stay at Shiduli allows you to settle into the “Safari Rhythm” without burning out. Beyond the standard morning and evening game drives, Shiduli offers bush walks (additional cost), bird watching (over 350 species), and a high-end pool and spa for the midday heat. Because of its location, you can use one of your middle days to take a day trip to the Panorama Route (Godโs Window and Blyde River Canyon) or the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, which are both nearby.
THE “BIG FIVE” GUARANTEE (ALMOST): Generally, there are two game drives per day (morning & late afternoon/evening). Therefore, your chances of seeing all the Big Fiveโplus rarer animals like Cheetahs and Wild Dogsโjump to nearly 100%.
ATMOSPHERE AND AMENITIES OF SHIDULI SAFARI LODGE: Shiduli is “special” because it balances high-end wildlife viewing with a warm, unpretentious atmosphere. Itโs perfect for someone who wants the full “Private Game Reserve” experience..Shiduli Safari Lodge is designed to feel like an authentic African manorโwarm, thatched, and tucked away in lush, shaded gardens. Because itโs a mid-sized lodge it strikes a nice balance between being social and feeling private. The lodge features a massive pool. The hotel has the most modern features to make your stay comfortable and wonderful.
…..The Rooms: “Earthy African Comfort”
The rooms are spacious and decorated in rich, earthy tones. They focus on traditional safari charm. Standard luxury suites are air-conditioned and feature high thatched ceilings, king-sized beds (or twins), and en-suite bathrooms. A major plus is that they have deep soaking tubs and rainfall showersโperfect for a long soak after a dusty game drive. Every room has a mini-fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, mosquito nets, and a private patio that overlooks the gardens or the bush.
…..The Dining: “A Celebration of Community”
Dining at Shiduli is a major part of the experience. Itโs not just about the food; itโs about the setting. The Happening Travel Club will feature The Boma (The Highlight) On clear nights, dinner is served in the “Boma”โan outdoor, circular enclosure with a massive central fire. You eat under the stars, surrounded by lanterns and the sounds of the bush. This is usually where you’ll find Pan-African buffets with grilled meats (braai), traditional stews, and vibrant salads. Dining with Rangers: Itโs a tradition at Shiduli for the rangers to join guests for dinner. This is the best time to ask those questions about the lions or leopards you saw earlier in the day.
…..The Daily Food Rhythm Of The Happening Travel Club Experience At Shiduli And Safari:
Early Morning: Coffee and “rusks” (traditional hard biscuits) before you head out at dawn.
Breakfast/Brunch: A huge spread served on the deck after your morning drive.
High Tea: Served in the late afternoon before your second game driveโexpect savory snacks, cakes, and iced tea.
Sundowners: During your evening drive, your ranger will stop in the bush for drinks and snacks while the sun sets.
Dinner: Either in the Boma or the indoor thatched dining area, depending on the weather.
Dietary Needs: They are very accommodating of vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free guests, but because of their remote location, you must let the Happening Travel Club know in advance so they can stock the specific ingredients.
One Small Warning… Do You Really Want Breakfast With An Elephant?: While the gardens are beautiful and keep the lodge cool, they are “wild” gardens. It is not uncommon to see monkeys, bushbucks, or even the occasional elephant wandering near the perimeter fence. It adds to the magic, but it means you should never leave food out on your patio!
WHAT WEATHER WILL BE LIKE ON SAFARI:
Late August in Kruger National Park marks the transition from the dry winter season into spring. Around August 30, you can expect clear skies and excellent conditions for wildlife viewing, though the landscape will be quite dry and dusty.
Temperature & Conditions: In late August, the weather is characterized by a significant temperature swing between day and night: Daytime: Pleasantly warm with average highs reaching 28ยฐC (82ยฐF). Night/Early Morning: Chilly to cold, with lows often dropping to 12ยฐC (54ยฐF).
Rainfall: Minimal. August is one of the driest months, with almost no chance of rain.
What to Expect Wildlife Visibility: This is one of the best times for a safari. Because water is scarce, animals congregate in large numbers around permanent watering holes, and the sparse vegetation makes them much easier to spot.
Packing Essentials: You’ll need a “layered” strategy. Heavy jackets, beanies, and scarves are essential for those early morning and late afternoon open-vehicle game drives. By midday, you’ll likely want to switch to light, breathable clothing.
Atmosphere: Expect dry, breezy conditions. Since it is the height of the dry season, the bush will look brown rather than green.

HOW TRAVEL PROTECTION WORKS
Trip cancellation insurance is highly recommended and covers medical, cancel for any reason and other policy options available. Insurance covers medical issues, many emergency issues and other related issues both before and during the trip. Your USA Health insurance does not cover you abroad nor do your credit card travel insurance perks provide this protection. When you travel abroad, it is critically important to have peace of mind leading up to your trip and while you are traveling. Travel insurance provides that peace of mind. Consult insurance information for complete details and insurance should be purchased at the time of booking to waive pre-existing condition clauses.
~ Travel (INSURANCE OR WAIVER) plan is included on your invoice at additional cost and you must advise us you do not want travel (INSURANCE OR WAIVER). Remember, (INSURANCE OR WAIVER) is required at the time of booking to WAIVE ANY PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITION(S) and will provide protection against cancellation penalties, medical expenses and other travel issues while traveling and more. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND travel insurance to protect your travel investment. You can even add CANCEL FOR ANY REASON insurance.
~ Your (INSURANCE POLICY) becomes active with your payment directly to the insurance company. You will see a charge for the insurance and receive the insurance policy by email. If you do not pay the policy or receive confirmation of your payment from the insurance provider directly you are not insured and should contact The Travel Club immediately. You can select your own insurance provider and also provide your own insurance protection.
~ For trips within the United States, guests may purchase a Cancellation Waiver at the time of booking to protect their trip investment.
~ For international trips outside the U.S., guests may purchase Travel Insurance in order to be eligible for any covered refunds or claims.
~ Without a Cancellation Waiver or Travel Insurance, all cancellations are considered final and non-refundable.
~ Trip Cancellation Insurance protects all travel investments with cancellation for covered reasons. You can also purchase cancellation for any reason.
